Under the RHPA, the Discipline Committee holds a hearing when allegations of an MRT's professional misconduct or incompetence are referred by the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee.
The Discipline Committee is made up of members of the public and MRTs. It sits as an independent tribunal to reach a fair decision based on evidence presented by the CMRTO and the member. Hearings of the Discipline Committee are open to the public.
After a hearing is held, the Discipline Committee may:
- revoke the MRT's certificate of registration
- suspend the MRT's certificate of registration
- impose conditions on the MRT's certificate of registration
- reprimand the MRT
- require the MRT to pay a fine to the Minister of Finance
