How the QA Program is Monitored
Each year the QA Committee will require a percentage of members in each specialty to submit their Self-Assessment Profiles and Continuous Learning Portfolios, or portions of them, for review.
The members who are required to submit their QA records will be advised in writing. If the QA Committee is not satisfied with any of the material submitted by the member, the QA Committee has the following options:
- require the member to confer with the Committee
- give the member an opportunity to complete the QA records
- give the member an opportunity to agree to implement remedial activity
- require the member to complete the QA records
- require the member to participate in the QA program
The QA Committee may also require the member to participate in a practice assessment. The practice assessment may be conducted by an assessor or by a program designed to evaluate the member’s competence.
If the member’s knowledge, skill or judgment are found to be unsatisfactory after a practice assessment, the QA Committee may require the member to participate in remedial activity – including specified education, refresher or continuing education programs, courses or initiatives.
Please be assured that, subject to certain limited exceptions, the QA Committee and any assessor appointed by it cannot disclose to any other committee of the College information that was given to it by the member or that relates to the member and was acquired through an assessment or evaluation.
(Other communications to the members describe in more detail the practice assessment and remediation components of the QA program.)
