Discipline

Under the RHPA, a panel of the Discipline Committee shall hold a hearing of allegations of a member's professional misconduct or incompetence referred to the Committee by the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee.

The Discipline Committee is made up of members of the public and members of the College. It sits as an independent tribunal to reach a fair decision based on evidence presented by legal counsel for the College and legal counsel for the member. Hearings of a panel of the Discipline Committee are open to the public.

After a hearing is held, actions which the panel of the Discipline Committee may include:
  • Revocation of the MRT's certificate of registration
  • Unconditional suspension of the MRT's certificate of registration
  • Conditions imposed on the MRT's certificate of registration
  • Reprimand
  • Require the MRT to pay a fine to the Minister of Finance
