Important - Hybrid Imaging Survey
The Alliance of Medical Radiation Technologists Regulators of Canada (the Alliance) is conducting a survey of all the medical radiation technologists in Canada who operate hybrid imaging equipment (PET-CT, SPECT-CT and PET-MR). The Alliance is comprised of six provincial regulators, including the CMRTO, who have come together to ensure public protection by further advancing MRT regulation and standards, regulatory issues and patient care. This is the first nationwide survey of medical radiation technologists who operate hybrid imaging equipment. The information gathered by this survey will inform us on the number of hybrid imaging units in use in each province, who is operating them, and what kind of education MRTs have received in order to operate the hybrid imaging units. This information will be critical in informing the provincial regulators in developing policies on the use of hybrid imaging equipment. The survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete. If you are a medical radiation technologist who operates a hybrid imaging unit, please complete the survey before December 31, 2012.

Harmonized Sales Tax
Effective July 1, 2010 the Ontario government will be implementing the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST). HST combines the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Provincial Sales Tax (PST) into a single sales tax of 13%. The implementation of the HST will affect College fees. To date, fees are subject only to GST which is currently 5%. All payments from July 1 onwards will be subject to the HST. Members whose renewal date falls before July 1, 2010 will pay the GST only (5%) on their registration fees if they pay on or before their renewal date (which is their birthday). However, members whose renewal of registration date falls on or after July 1, 2010 will have their registration fees subject to the HST (even if the payment is made before July 1).
